Following intelligence by Pakistan National Security Adviser (NSA) Nasir Khan Janjua to his Indian counterpart Ajit Doval of terrorist infiltration into Gujarat, four National Security Guard (NSG) teams have been deployed across the state and are in standby.
“We got the input yesterday after which all the police across Gujarat was alerted. There are continuous combing operations and several check posts have been set up. We are searching for suspects involved in different activities and every possible protective measure is being taken,” Gujarat Director General of Police PC Thakur told the media here.
He added that four NSG teams have been deployed in the team so far in which three squads are in Ahmedabad and one in Somnath.
Appealing to the people of Gujarat that they should not panic, Thakur assured that the security forces are ready to counter the situation.
Earlier, the Pakistan’s NSA informed that these are fidayeen from the Lashkar-E-Taiba and Jaish-e Muhammed cadres.
The NSG teams are on standby and a high-level alert has been sounded across the state.
Important monuments and pilgrimage centres like Somnath temple, Dwarka Temple, Akashardham, power plants, defence, dams like Sardar Sarovar Dam and security establishments have also been put on alert.
The warning from Pakistan comes after five abandoned Pakistani boats found in the past three months in Kutch.
An abandoned boat was found by a BSF patrolling team off Koteshwar coast in Kutch on Friday.
Meanwhile, another suspicious boat has been found near Porbandar today and two foreign nationals have been arrested in the matter. (ANI)
