Gujarat police further tightened security measures after the Intelligence Bureau (IB) issued a terror warning in view of upcoming festivals and Independence day celebrations in the state. Additional DG Law and Order Shivanand Jha, said though a high alert has already been sounded in the state following the serial blasts in Pune few days ago, the state police is taking some extra measures to ensure that no untoward incident takes place. The high alert has been in force and will continue till August 15, the Independence Day. Then the police will review the situation and take an appropriate decision. The state police have been asked to be on ‘stand to’ mode to counter any untoward incident since the Pune blasts. The Quick Response Teams (QRTs) and Special Operation Groups (SOGs) are on alert. The patrolling at all sensitive and strategic locations has been intensified. Checking of suspected vehicles, and those at entry and exits of cities like Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat and Rajkot have been intensified. The security at prominent religious places like Ambaji, Dwarika and Somnath have been stepped up following the blasts in Pune. UNI
