Ahmedabad, October 12: The Gujarat High Court today sought reply from CBI and the state government on the bail application filed by former minister Amit Shah, arrested by the investigating agency in Soharabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case.
Justice R H Shukla issued notices to CBI and state government asking them to file their replies on Shah’s bail plea by October 22.
Shah had yesterday moved the High Court for bail after his application was rejected by a special CBI court last week.
Rejecting the bail, Special CBI judge G K Upadhyaya had observed that there was “eye catching” evidence in the form of statements, recorded under CrPc, against Shah and there was likelihood that if the applicant is released on bail, he may misuse his political powers to hamper investigation.
