Guj budget disappointing: Gohil

Gandhinagar, March 09: Leader of Opposition in Gujarat assembly Shaktisinh Gohil today said the budget was “disappointing” and does not provide any relief to the people in the state’s golden jubilee year.

“Instead of providing any relief to the people of the state, the budget imposes various taxes to the tune of Rs 730 crore while additional tax on VAT, which was imposed for temporary period, has been perpetuated,” Gohil said initiating debate in the assembly on budgetary demands.

“Tax worth hundreds of crores is due from 686 traders but the government has done precious little to recover the money evaded by the traders,” he said adding unfortunately the government chose to impose more tax.

He even asked the government to move to the Supreme Court if it felt that the central government was meting out “injustice” to the state. .
