Alappuzha: A guilty thief reportedly returned robbed gold jewelry along with an apology letter to the owner explaining him of his urgent need that led him to rob.
The peculiar incident is reported from Kerala’s Ambalapuzha where the thief who had stolen gold jewelry from a house on Tuesday night. The guilty thief also wrote an apology note to the owners where he spoke of his urgent need for money, Times Now reported.
Madhu Kumar of Karumady who had gone with his family to Karuvatta to attend his elder brother’s son’s wedding returned to find his family jewellery was missing and stolen.
According to a report published in TOI, the Ambalapuzha circle inspector Biju V Nair speaking on the robbery had said, “the family went without locking the house gate. When they returned at 10:30 pm they found the house gate has been broken into. The back door was also open. The next day Kumar went to police station and lodged a robbery complaint. He also named a man who he suspected for the robbery.”
It was after Madhu Kumar filed a complaint against the suspect on Wednesday, the police started investigating the case.
But to the family’s surprise, the very next morning, they found their missing gold jewellery in front of the house’s main gate wrapped in a paper with an attached note that read, “Please forgive me. I took your ornaments as I was in desperate need of money. I will not repeat it. Please don’t approach to the police against me.”
The family was indeed moved by this honest gesture of the guilt-ridden thief. They, later on, withdrew their robbery complaint.
