New Delhi: Bagging nine awards, ‘Bajirao Mastani’ was the big winner at the Renault Sony Guild Awards 2015.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus walked off with the awards for Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Art Direction, Best Sound Design, Best Costume Design, Best Dialogue, Best Choreography, Best Actor in a Supporting Role and Best Actor in Leading Role.
Ranveer Singh scooped the ‘Best Actor’ award for his performance in Bajirao Mastani, while Deepika Padukone walked away the ‘Best Actress’ award for ‘Piku.’
Bollywood’s action hero Akshay Kumar was also given a special award for completing 25 years in the industry. Veteran actor Jeetendra received the Lifetime Achievement Award that was presented to him by his son Tusshar Kapoor and veteran actress Poonam Sinha.
Priyanka Chopra won the award for Guild Global Honor for her US debut in ‘Quantico’ and the Guilds President Honor went to Jammu Sugandh. The Best Child Artist award went to Harshali Malhotra for her role of a deaf and mute girl in ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan.’
Taking the podium as host, the inimitable Kapil Sharma had the audiences in splits as he brought down the house with innumerable jokes. The star-studded evening also saw some incredible performances by Sonakshi Sinha, Kriti Sanon, Ayushmann Khuranna, Priyanka Chopra and many more.
