Growing clamour in Congress painful: Uppunutala

Hyderabad, August 24: Former minister Uppunutala Purushottam Reddy on Monday expressed regrets at the growing clamour in the Congress party over the Chief Minister’s and pleaded with party leaders not to belittle it by staking claims on it.

Mr Purshottam Reddy said that the situation has deteriorated in the party to such an extent that every leader, big and small is eyeing the Chief Minister’s post and making public comments.

He asked senior party leaders and the High Command to initiate action against leaders who make public comments since such statements damage the party image by creating a false impression that the government is under threat.

The former minister reacted to the statement by Union Minister of State D Purandareswari on the chief minister’s post by saying that there are many senior leaders in the Congress party. Ms Purandareswari had said that she would abide by any decision made by the High Command over the issue.

Mr Purshottam Reddy also requested CWC member G Venkataswamy to settle the bitter property dispute with actor Srikanth in a court of law without dragging the Congress party in the mess.

Calling on all party workers to maintain party discipline strictly, the former minister suggested that Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy to follow the High Command directive on Odarpu yatra.
