Curfew is on in Hyderabad Old City for the third day consecutively on Tuesday, Apr 10 but reports claim that some people are still trying to trigger another riot in the city. According to police sources, miscreants dumped body parts of animals at two religious places on Monday.
Hyderabad witnessed a massive riot on Sunday over the same reason. The incident that sparked violence was when a place of worship in Kurmaguda of Madannapet was desecrated by unknown persons. The act is taboo according to Hindu tradition and culture.
Despite curfew, a group burnt a garage at Umda Bazaar in Kamatipura on Monday and news of minor communal clashed have been reported from several parts of the city.
Business and schools of the curfew-bound Madannapet and Saidabad were closed and police appealed to the public to remain calm.
“Don’t give credence to rumours. Anyone who sends provocative SMSes will be punished. Those who post offensive messages on social networking sites like Facebook will also be brought to book,” stated police officials.
Many people have been arrested. The city police are making no stone unturned to curb the violence and towards this has picked up communal elements and history-sheeters to avoid the violence from spreading to other parts of the city.
