Hyderabad, October 17: The Group – II examinations conducted by the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission for recruitment to 873 concluded peacefully with nearly 68.96 per cent candidates appearing for the written exam across the State on Sunday.
According to the APPSC, of 4.54 lakh candidates who applied for exam, 2.65 lakh actually downloaded the hall tickets. Of them, 68.96 appeared for the exam held on Sunday across the State. While the percentage in Andhra regions was 69.87 per cent, in Rayalaseema it was 71.29 per cent. However, in the strike-hit Telangana region 67.57 per cent of candidates appeared for the exams.
The highest attendance was reported from Nalgonda, Mahaboobnagar and Adilabad districts where over 75 per cent aspirants wrote the exam on Sunday. The lowest attendance was in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts combine where 60.30 per cent candidates appeared for the exams.
Police have made elaborate arrangements at all 1,064 centres across the State. Unprecedented security arrangements were made at 402 centres located in the strike-hit Telangana region.
For the first time, the candidates were allowed to take home a copy of the answer sheet. They were given two OMR answer sheets which were used as a carbon-less copy. After the exam one copy was submitted to the examiner while the other was taken away by the students.
