Hyderabad, November 06: The results of Group-I Prelims are likely to be announced within 10 days and officials of the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) are planning to conduct the Main examination on February 15. The APPSC will conduct the Group-II examinations only after the Group- I Main examination is held and appointments made.
Commission chairman Y Venkatarami Reddy told reporters here today that arrangements were being made for announcing the results of Group-I Preliminary examination held on September 5 this year.
The results are likely to be released before November 15 and the Main examination will be conducted in February to ensure a gap of at least three months’ time to enable Prelims-qualified candidates to prepare well for the Main. Nearly 1.81 lakh candidates appeared for the Group-I Prelims which was held at 445 centres across the state.
The Group-I Prelims ran into controversy after pro-Telangana supporters led by Telangana Rashtra Samithi demanded 42 per cent reservation to candidates from the Telangana region for the 198 vacant posts.
However, APPSC authorities, with the support of the state government, went ahead and conducted the examination which went off smoothly except for minor incidents at a couple of examination centres including the one at the B.Ed College on the Osmania University campus.
Later, a re-examination was conducted for students who could not attend the examination due to the agitations by activists of the TRS and Osmania University Joint Action Committee (OUJAC).
Venkatarami Reddy said the Group- II examination will be conducted only after filling the Group-I posts. He said that the APPSC would take up recruitment of junior lecturers only after the government resolved the free zone issue.
The APPSC was planning to fill smaller number of other posts by the end of the year, he added.
