Marriage on the occasion of Akshay Tritiya proved costly to a man in Sagar district as bride infuriated over fraud slapped the groom then and there during the wedding that took place at a mass marriage.
The groom Khemchand Patel, resident of Chandrashekhar ward hides his marital status and planned to remarry a girl of his own community. As the couple along with others was busy completing the marriage rituals, a woman, resident of Bhagwanganj ward reached the wedding spot and identified Patel as her husband.
The woman and Patel had heated argument following which the bride-to-be slapped Patel in front of the crowd.
Sagar Municipal Corporation, the organizers of the mass marriage function panicked about the happening and reached the spot to calm down the duo.
The man tried to escape the wrath of his wife, but the woman showed a certificate evident of her marriage with Patel. Following the incident, the police took the man into custody.
Patel was not the only groom who planned to tie the knot one more time at the function. At least six persons had approached the organisers for marriage but following complaints, they were expelled from the function at the eleventh hour.
