Ghaziabad, May 22: A groom has been arrested along with his father for allegedly backing out of marriage at the last moment over a dowry demand.
The incident was reported from Sapnawat area in the city.
The marriage of Radhey and his brother Suraj was fixed with sisters Monica and Jyoti, but just before the ceremony yesterday their father demanded a motorcycle and Rs 50,000 cash, Superintendent of Police A K Vijeta told PTI.
The grooms’ father, Davender Singh, refused to go ahead with the marriage after the demand was not met, following which a complaint was lodged by the girls’ father, he said.
Police have registered a case and arrested Radhey and his father Davender, the official said, adding a search was on to nab Suraj.
