New Delhi: A grenade was found by a team of Archeological Survey of India inside a well at the Red Fort during a cleaning operation on Monday. It was later examined by the Bomb Disposal Squad, the city police said.
“There were 2-3 more boxes visible within the well. The bomb disposal squad has been called in to retrieve and defuse them if they are live. The grenade appears to be old, from before India’s Independence,” Delhi police officer Daljeet Singh said.
“A security guard posted at the fort called up the Control Room and informed about what he first thought was a strange looking object. When the box was opened, a grenade was found in it,” Singh said.
