Greenomics Protocol Signed in Dubai

Dubai, October 04: Greenomics Protocol, an environmental guideline on business sustainability, was signed on Saturday at the close of the LG Gronomics Conference 2009 on sustainable development and other environmentally responsible initiatives.

Dr Rashid Ahmed bin Fahd, UAE Minister of Environment and Water, signed the agreement with Zafar Adeel, director of United Nations University International Network on Water, Environment and Health, Abdullatif Alsayegh, CEO of Arab Media Group and, KW Kim, CEO of LG Electronics Middle East and Africa Regional Company.

The Greenomics Conference sought to find possible solutions to the many challenges facing industries in the UAE in creating sustainable business models and determining how to implement their solutions.

Kim said that sustainability as a business issue has grown exponentially in recent years as companies realise that customers go for brands to pay greater attention to their environmental impact. “LG Electronics is supporting UAE’s endeavour for green economy because the company has social and corporate responsibility for global consumers. Life is most critical all over the world so we decide to involve in global warming and in green economy issues to support.”

He also said that LG is impressed with the UAE’s efforts towards this end, and how the drive of the environment minister to make successful all substantial issues.

“Though some people find our products a bit costly, we should remember that we are producing for quality life – green life – and this cannot be costed.”

Kim highlighted the fact that the protocol that was signed had showed the support of everyone, the society to move, and the importance of raising awareness among the people of the quality of life they should get and the need for government to partner with the business sector.
