Greenline metro services disrupts Power cut

Namma Metro’s month-old Green Line service between Swastik and Peenya was disrupted for an hour due to a anomaly in electricity supply, which causes inconvenience to anxious passengers besides delaying subsequent trains.

At 3:03 pm, a sudden power cut hit the metro train services at Kuvempu Road, Yeswanthpur, Rajajinagar, Yeswanthpur Industry and Peenya Industry stations for about an hour.

According to the officials of the Bangalore Metro Rail Limited (BMRC, a power tripping from the side of Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited caused the disruption. However, no train was marooned in the middle and once the power tripping was discovered, all the passengers were informed of it at 3:08 pm.

The next six trips of the metro train was also affected by the power disruption. Officials said in a statement that about 675 passengers were refunded the fare amount. Soon after, the train services resumed at 4:03 pm after restoration of power supply at 3:58 pm.

According to BMRCL officials, investigations are on to find out the reason for disruption in power supply and it is too early to say anything at this stage. The metro also witnesses an increase in the number of commuters on holidays compared to weekdays. Passengers left high and dry for an hour at the stations turned anxious as the power cut also affected their plans on Sunday.
