Mission Bhagirathi Vice Chairman V Prashanth Reddy today said that only way out to send monkeys back to woods are through planting saplings. He was participating in the prestigious green drive program for two weeks. We must plant saplings and protect them for attracting rains and get abundant waters in our lakes, ponds and water bodies across the state he stated. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has taken up the ambitious program of planting 230 cr saplings over five years to reach the green cover to 33 per cent he stated.
It needs support by the people in continuous manner he said. Reddy also appreciated that the engineers, officials and staff of his department are actively participating in the green drive. The plantation drive is to complete the target of planting 46 cr saplings and each village will get 40000 saplings Prashanth Reddy said. He appealed to the people to turn out in huge numbers in the green expansion program to transform better environment free from pollution.
Planning Board vice chairman S Niranjan Reddy participated in the green drive at Vijetha Degree College in Kukatpally. Later he distributed the plants to the people. (NSS)
