Green card holder Rabiya ditched by family, caught begging in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: Just to earn a few extra bucks, this US green card holder was deceived by her own brothers and sisters.

The story of 44-year-old Rabiya Baseera will surely bring tears to one’s eyes.

A resident from Defence Colony at Langar Houz, Rabiya was among those caught while begging on streets recently as part of a drive to make Hyderabad a beggar-free city.

Police took the US green card holder who did not appear like beggars to Anand Ashram at Cherlapalli jail on November 11.

Speaking to The Siasat Daily Correspondent, the young woman said that she was married as a third wife to an Indian-American Mohammed Abdul Nayeem in 1998.

Rabiya was well settled and worked in Indian grocery in USA for many years.

She claimed that her relatives are not allowing her to meet her two daughters. She was cheated and was forced to beg after her relatives had deceitfully taken away all her hard earned properties in the city.

Following an advice from her relatives, she began begging near a dargah in Langer Houz to get the mental peace.
