Grand Mufti urged Muslims to maintain unity

Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al-Asheikh and also president of the Council of Senior Scholars on his weekly radio show, broadcasted live from Makkah, urged Muslims to stand strong in the face of dissonance and has urged Muslims to maintain harmony amid turbulent times.

The mufti acted contrite over the ongoing turmoil in Iraq, Libya and Yemen.

“The bombings, destruction and bloody conflicts prevalent in Muslim countries have destroyed infrastructures and displaced thousands,” said the Grand Mufti. “This is why it is all the more vital for us to remain united and turn to the Qur’an and Prophetic tradition for salvation.”

Al- Sheikh made the remark in a recent statement passing on good wishes to Muslims on the advent of the new Hijri year.

Al-Asheikh said, “The Islamic nation is going through difficult times, where enemies are trying to create division for political gain”.

The mufti gave emphasis to the importance of unison in spite of external factors.“Our enemies spark rivalry and foster animosity among Muslims to keep them preoccupied with conflict while they take over the reigns of power and hegemony,” he said.
