Hyderabad: The soon-to-be launched ‘Grama Jyoti’ programme of Telangana government aims at comprehensive development of villages and help the Panchayati Raj System regain its past glory, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao said today.
Speaking at an interactive session organised with officials, Rao made a number of suggestions related to development of rural areas, a release from his office said here.
The Chief Minister suggested that plans be prepared for development of villages keeping in view the local needs and involving their residents.
The Sarpanch of the village and other local Panchayat Raj representatives should get involved in preparing plans, he said.
The TRS Government would spend Rs 25,000 crore in the next four years through various departments. It would provide 25,000 rickhsaws for collection of garbage in villages, the release added.
