Mumbai: Elections to 80 gram panchayats and by-polls to 2,440 other gram panchayats for a total of 3,909 vacant seats across 14 districts of Maharashtra will be held on May 27, the State Election Commission said today.
“Model code of conduct has come into effect in all these 80 gram panchayats whose tenure ends between June and September 2017,” State Election Commissioner J S Saharia said in a statement here.
Nomination papers will be accepted between 5 and 12 May.
Scrutiny of nomination papers will be done on May 15, and the last date for withdrawal of nomination papers is May 17.
“The election symbols will be allotted on May 17 itself,” he added.
In the Naxal-affected Gadchiroli district, polling will be held between 7.30 am to 3 pm, while elsewhere it will be between 7.30 am to 6.30 pm.
Counting of votes will take place on May 29.
