The Telugu Desam Party has strongly opposed the Government Orders No. 63 and 64 pertaining to Gram Jyothi and described them unconstitutional.
Speaking to media persons here on Sunday, Telangana TDP leaders Errabelli Dayakar Rao and Ravula Chndrasekhar Reddy said both the GOs were against the spirit of the Constitution. They alleged that the State Government was trying to limit the powers of Sarpanches of Gram Panchayats by confining their role to three out of seven committees proposed to be constituted for village development. They asked the State Government to explain the difference between ‘Gram Jyothi’ and ‘Mana Vuru, Mana Pranalika’ which was launched earlier.
They alleged that the State Government was launching ‘Gram Jyothi’ to benefit party cadre and it would be used as ‘TRS Jyothi’. (INN)
