Johannesburg : Former South African skipper Graeme Smith believes that players’ negative mindset and poor management system led to his country’s Test series defeat against England.
Earlier, AB de Villiers-led side suffered a seven-wicket defeat in the third Test in Johannesburg to give England a series win and thereby losing the number one Test ranking to India.
Smith said that although players were responsible for their performance, he called on management to look at their role in their side’s defeat, Sport24 reported.
The 34-year-old insisted that the South Africa Test team had not been performing well from last year, adding that it was management’s responsibility to solve the situation.
Describing the current squad as a `bit flat`, Smith said that there was a lack of decision-making process in the team.
The two sides will now play their final Test, a dead rubber, in Centurion from Friday. (ANI)
