Bangalore, February 12: South African captain Graeme Smith sustained a finger injury during a fielding session at the Eden Gardens ahead of the second Test on Sunday.
According to a report in Cricinfo, Smith was hit on his left little finger during practice and strained a ligament on the outside half of the finger.
He was cleared of any tendon damage after an X-ray was taken at the ground, and will go to a local hospital for an MRI.
Smith has suffered from various injuries over the past two years, and he famously came out to bat with a broken hand to try and save a Test against Australia in Sydney. With this injury not appearing to be very serious, there is every likelihood that Smith will not miss the Eden Gardens Test against India.
