Graduate raped at job interview

New Delhi, October 08: Police today claimed to have arrested a person for allegedly raping a 28-year-old girl in the Mahipalpur area here, a day after a teacher was gangraped in west Delhi.

”Ramesh Verma(35), a resident of Vasant Kunj, had lured the victim for a job and asked her to come to his office in Rangpuri in Mahipalpur for an interview,” a senior police official told UNI.

He informed, ”When she reached Verma’s office around 12 noon on October 5, during the interview, he offered her refreshments after consuming which she fell unconscious,” the official said.

He added that the accused, owner of a plastic fibre manufacturing unit, then allegedly raped her and fled from the spot.

The girl, a graduate living in Pitampura with her husband who was a salesman, was admitted to Safdarjung Hospital where the rape was confirmed, the official said and added that the accused was arrested on October 6.

Further investigations were on.
