(Siasat News)The expression of Ganga-Jamuna culture of Hyderabad was witnessed yesterday when the local residents belonging to Hindu Community came forward to rehabilitate the old mosque that was uninhabited for the past 22 years. They also participated in Iftaar along with their Muslim brethren.
Masjid Yak Khana became uninhabited in 1990 after the communal riots in Hyderabad. This mosque is surrounded by the habitations of the Non-Muslims. Muslims were afraid of going to this mosque for offering prayers. Mr. Osman bin Mohammed Al-Hajiri took up the task of inhabiting this old mosque. He negotiated with the local Hindu. They welcomed the idea of in habiting the old mosque. They white washed the outer walls of the mosque. They removed the materials kept inside the mosque. After the communal riots, some people were using the mosque as a storeroom.
Maulana Syed Afzal Biyabani, Chairman of Wakf Board sent a team of Wakf officials. He instructed them to start the work of laying floor and erecting the grills for the mosque.
