New Delhi, May 03: The BJP said on Monday that while the US has “punished” Osama bin Laden for the 9/11 attacks, the UPA government at the Centre is yet to “punish” Afzal Guru for the Parliament attack.
“The US has punished the key man behind the World Trade Centre attack. The question is whether India would punish those behind the December 2001 attack on Parliament,” said BJP leader Rajnath Singh. The party said those behind 26/11 are also “safe in sanctuaries” in Pakistan, and asked the government to demand that they be handed over to India.
‘Need same standards of prevention on Pak’s western border’
The Congress on Monday said the world should deploy the “same standards of prevention” on the eastern border of Pakistan as it does on the western border. “Neutralisation of bin Laden underscores the point which India has been delivering for over three decades that Pakistan has become a sanctuary for terrorists of various shades and hues…The world needs to understand that infrastructure of terror is seamless and the same standards of prevention, which are deployed towards western border of Pakistan, need also be deployed on the eastern border,” said Congress spokesman Manish Tewari at a press briefing here.
