The Government has allocated Rs.400 crore under Rajiv Education Mission for providing the special equipments and other necessities for the physically challenged persons in the State this year.
This was stated by the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy at the fifth annual day celebrations of Netra Vidyalaya Institute for Visually Challenged, being run by Sri Tridandi Chinna Srimannarayana Ramanuja Jeeyar Swamiji, at Sriramnagar near Shamshabad here today. He said that Rs.220 crore was earmarked this year for the income generation programmes for the physically challenged persons. He inaugurated the special computer lab for the physically challenged.
The Chief Minister made it clear that the Government was keen on making the physically challenged stand on their own legs, and programmes would be formulated in this direction to benefit the 3.5 lakh persons. He also said that ‘Rajiv Yuvakiranaalu’ scheme is being implemented effectively in the State to create employment opportunities by training the youth in different skills, in cooperation with the Industry.
Stating that Government efforts alone would not suffice to bring about equality of all and justice to all, he said that cooperation from organizations working without any selfish motive, industrialists and spiritual leaders like the Chinna Jeeyar Swamy was necessary to achieve the goal.
Speaking on the occasion, Chinna Jeeyar Swamy appreciated the state Government for allowing the visually challenged students to write the Intermediate examinations on laptop, which was first of its kind in the country. He said that all of them should strive unitedly for progress of the society.
Ministers K Jana Reddy, N Uttam kumar Reddy, M Maheedhar Reddy, D Sreedhar Babu, Sabita Indra Reddy, and a number of legislators participated in the function. (NSS)
