Hyderabad, February 6: Transport Minister Botsa Satyanarayana on Saturday stated that his comments on the death of G Vara Laxmi, a first year B Tech student of Vignana Engineering College in Nalgonda district, were based on the statement given by her before a magistrate.
Talking to media persons, Mr Satyanarayana stated that since Vara Laxmi’s parents were insisting that her death was a suicide and not an accident, a high level probe would be ordered into the circumstances that led to the student’s death.
Mr Satyanarayana had on February 3 stated that Vara Laxmi’s death was due to a fire from a leaking LPG cylinder. He had blamed the media for attributing the girl’s suicide to non-release of fee reimbursement arrears.
The Minister had said that Vara Laxmi, as per her dying declaration given to the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Venkateshwara Rao, died due to fire accident which occurred in her house. He had also given a copy of the dying declaration as recorded by the Magistrate to media
