Govt Urged To Set Up Special Court At Laxmipet For Trial Of Killers

Laxmipet Dalit Struggle Solidarity Committee convener Bojja Tharakam has demanded that the State government set up a special court at Laxmipet immediately and start the trial of the killers of five Dalits.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Friday, Bojja Tharakam accused the State government of adopting negligent attitude towards Laxmipet Dalits killing case. He also criticized the State government for issuing GO No 103 to set up a special sessions court at Srikakulam instead of at Laxmipet for trial of the accused. He demanded that the State government withdraw GO No 103 and set up special court at Laxmipet.

Co-convener Duddu Prabhakar demanded that the State government distribute 250 acres of land among the landless Dalits in Laxmipet village. He alleged that the State government was trying to shield the culprits, who belong to upper castes.

Solidarity committee leaders BC Mahasabha Samiti president U. Sambasivarao, B. Suresh Kumar and Laxmi were also present. (NSS)
