Govt urged to provide equal, Quality edn to all kids

State Program Manager, Save the Children, Dr P Anjaiah has stated here that the Government should make efforts to provide equal, inclusive and quality education to all the children up to 18 years of age.
Speaking at meeting on implementation of Right to Education Act, organized jointly by the Catholic Health association of India, Save the Children and Right to Education Forum here Saturday, he said that factors like Andhra Pradesh standing at 31st place in literacy in the country, large number of child labour, and high drop-out of students belonging to SC, ST, BC and Muslims indicate the alarming situation in the State. He bemoaned that basic necessities were lacking in 50 per cent of the Schools in the State, and large number of Teachers posts were lying vacant.
National RTE Forum Convenor Ambarish Rai was the chief guest at the event. RTE Forum state convenor Ch Murali Mohan MLC P Sudhakar Reddy, State Teachers Union leader K Narsimha Reddy were among those who spoke.(NSS)
