Primary Education Minister S Sailajanath informed the Legislative Council that the AP Government Tex Book Press would be closed in a phase manner.
Replying to a question raised by MLC Balasubramanyam Vitapu and others during Question Hour, the minister admitted that the Government Text Book Press machinery was out dated and needs new machines. However, he said that the government had taken a decision in 1997 to close down the Press. In 2004 it was decided to phase the closure to avoid hardship to employees and for smooth redeployment.
The minister said that a comprehensive view needs to be taken in this regard. He said that the matter was under examination of the government. (INN)
