Telangana (Hyderabad) [India]: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao has conveyed his greetings to women in the state.
The Chief Minister said that the government is taking several measures for the welfare of women in the state.
“More new and innovative programmes for women will be launched this year. The women in the state should take advantage of the programmes, schemes of the government and move forward,” Rao said.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister has taken an important decision for an increased role for women in the governance.
The Chief Minister has decided to give nominated posts to women who took an active role in the Telangana Statehood movement and also in the movement for women development.
The Chief Minister has constituted a three-member committee to select women candidates for the chairperson of certain corporations and other nominated posts.
The three-member committee consists of deputy speaker in the Legislative Assembly Padma Devender Reddy, Karimnagar ZP Chairperson Tula Uma and Nizamabad MP Kavita Kalvakuntla.
Rao has asked the committee members to prepare a list of the eligible women based on which the nominated posts will be filled up with women candidates shortly. (ANI)
