The State government has decided to take a special jet aircraft that could carry VIPs even in inclement weather on lease.
The government feels that the new aircraft would solve the problem of the timings of regular commercial services not being suitable for VVIP movements. Eight persons could travel by this aircraft non-stop for four hours.
Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chattisgarh have purchased this aircraft. The State government has felt that it could minimize the expenditure by taking it on lease.
If the aircraft is purchased, its maintenance would cost Rs 13.98 crores. As the expenditure on lease would be around Rs 13.89 crore, the government has decided to take it on lease. The government would be paying the salaries of the pilots, operation manager, safety manager and flight departure cabin attendant. (NSS)
