Andhra Pradesh Goverment is planning to impose ban on tobacco related products like Gutaka and Pan Masala which were causes for mouth and throat cancer.
Addrssing a press conference, Andhra Pradesh Public Healh and Family Department and Food Safety Commissioner Praveen Praksh here today said the governmennt will take a decision on the ban on tobacoo products like Gutka, Pan Masala and Supari among others in the state which causes mouth and throat cancer, within 30 days. Mr Praksh said for effective implementation, the government will send a experts team next week to the others states where the ban was being implemented, to study the modalities and legalities for imposing ban on tobocco products.
‘Imposing ban was very easy but good implementation was needed ‘, Mr Praksh said and added the state government will discuss with the Centre and the neighbouring states on the issue. Earlier, Apollo Cencer Hospital Director Dr P Vijay Anand Reddy said practcing Oncologists organized several anti tobacco awareness progrmes across the state and gave representation to the concerned government heads, including Governor, Chief Minister , Health Minister to implement the COTPA Act 2003, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) 2.3.4 in the state.
