Govt. is supporting Seema Andhra agitation- Jana Reddy alleges

After the announcement of the decision of CWC for the formation of separate Telangana State, the State Cabinet met for the first time yesterday. Two ministers from Telangana and six ministers from Seema Andhra region did not attend the meeting. Mr. Jana Reddy, Minister for Panchayath Raj discussed the issue of failure of State Govt. to tackle Seema Andhra agitation. The C.M. told that the situation will be normal very soon. He further told that if all the ministers feel their responsibilities to resolve the issue, things will be set right. Sources indicated that some ministers from Telangana region objected to giving permission to A.P. NGOs for holding protest meeting at Lal Bhadur Stadium.

At the end of the meeting, Mr. Jana Reddy raked up the issue of Seema Andhra agitation and the inconvenience caused by it to the public. He pointed out that when Telangana NGOs protested earlier, stern action was taken against them but no action is being taken against Seema Andhra employees who are agitating for the past 50 days. Govt. is functioning as a silent spectator. It amounts to indirectly supporting the agitation of Seema Andhra employees.

Intervening on the criticism against the C.M. by Mr. Jana Reddy, Mr. Shailaja Nath told that Govt. is adopting the same attitude with the Seema Andhra employees which it did to Telangana employees earlier. The C.M. told that Govt. is trying its level best to end Seema Andhra employees’ agitation. He hoped that in the next 10 days this situation is likely to become normal. Mr. D. Sridhar Babu, Minister for Civil Supplies opposed the move to merge the gram panchayaths adjoining the Hyderabad city into GHMC. Mr. Prasad Kumar, Minister for Handlooms expressed his anger on it.
