Govt striving for welfare of journalists: Chandravadan

The State Government is striving with dedication for the welfare of journalists and their families, and implementing many schemes in that direction.

This was stated by the Commissioner for Information and Public Relations, Mr RV Chandravadan today, while inaugurating an eye camp organized jointly by the Andhra Pradesh Press Academy, Information and Public Relations Department and Vasan Eye Care Hospital, in the premises of Press Academy here. He said the Government has increased the Journalists’ welfare fund amount from Rs.one to Rs. two crore recently, and it was implementing many welfare schemes like pensions, mediclaim policy, health insurance, Arogya Sri, etc.

Accreditations were given to 22,337 media persons; he said and added that all these measures would go to show the interest taken by the Government towards the welfare of journalists. He said that the advise and suggestions of the media persons and their associations was being taken in implementation of the welfare measures.

Press Academy chairman Mr Tirumalagiri Surender said that the A cademy has been organizing training classes for journalists in the districts, with the cooperation of the Universities, and also organizing awareness camps to create awareness about the programmes taken up by the Government. He called upon the journalists, their family members and the staff of Information department to take advantage of the eye camp, and added that more such camps would be organized in future also.

Director of Information Department Mr Subhash Goud, Andhra Pradesh monthly Editor Mr G Vallishwar also spoke. Information department Joint Director Mr Srinivas, Vasan Eye Hospital’s Dr Sravanthi, PRO Arun Kumar and senior journalists participated.
