Govt. starts attempts to form Madrasa Board

Govt. of A.P. has started its attempts for the formation of Madrasa Board. A team of officials of Sarva Shiksha Abhyan working under the department of Primary education has proceeded to UP and Bihar to get a report of the functioning of Madrasa Boards in those states. Maulana Syed Tariq Quadri, Mr. M.A. Bari, Asst. General Manager of Finance Corporation, Prof. S.M. Mazheruddin Farooqui, Mr. M.A. Majid, Mr. Ali Akbar Basha, Mr. Ayub Ali Khan have proceeded to Bihar and UP States to review the functioning of Madarsa Education Boards and to submit the report to Govt. of A.P. It is expected that this report will be presented early next month.

It may be noted that Govt. decided to form Madarsa Board setting aside the objections raised by Muslim Ulema and the managements of Islamic Madarasas in the State. This act of the State Govt. might increase the apprehension of the Muslim community, the majority of which is opposed to this proposal. They contend that with the formation of Madarsa Board, the door for the unnecessary intervention of the Govt. will be opened. Reliable sources indicated that the report which is being finalized would be in favour of the Govt. policy for the formation of Deeni Madrasas Board. With the formation of Madrasas Board, Govt. wants to attract Muslim community in its favour.
