Hyderabad, August 09: The Government was taking all necessary steps for proper arrangement of medicine to the HIV/AIDS patients besides creating awareness among people to control the deadly virus in the state, Andhra Pradesh Health and Family Welfare Minister Mr Danam Nagender said today.
Mr Nagendar was inaugurating the ART (Anti Retro viral Treatment) and ICTC centre (Integrated Counceling and Testing Centre) developed at a cost of Rs 10 lakh at District Hospital, King Koti, in the city.
He said this was the 31 ART centre in the state and some more centres will be set up for treatment of the HIV/AIDS patients. He said that the publicity and awareness is being created among the people about HIV/AIDS through posters and electronic media.
Necessary precautionary measures would also be taken to control and prevent the the spreading of HIV/AIDS in the state.
Dr R V Chandravadan, Project Director state AIDS control society, While speaking on the occasion said this was one of the biggest ART and ICTC centre and equipped with all facilities. At present 31 such centres and 14 link ART centres are functioning in the state for providing ART treatment to the people. Eighty four thousand two hundred eighty eight people are put on ART so far in the state, he added.
