Govt. is serious to communicate the advantages of Minorities Welfare Schemes

Minister of Minorities Welfare, Mr. Syed Ahmadullah convened a meeting of the officials to review various welfare schemes meant for Minorities. He sought information from the officials of Minorities Finance Corporation, Hajj Committee and Urdu Academy. He instructed the officials to implement Govt. schemes seriously.

He further said that the Govt. is serious about giving advantage to the Minorities. Any amount of irregularity or lethargy in the implementation of the schemes will not be tolerated. Principal Secretary of the Dept. of Minorities Welfare was to attend this meeting. Since this post is vacant, no body attended this meeting. Mr. Ahmedullah instructed the officials of Minorities Finance Corporation to submit a report about the establishment of study centers for Minority students. He said that Minorities Finance Corporation has enough budget. It can establish study centers in districts also where the students take advantage of higher education and coaching in courses related to employment.

He said that the officials of the Corporation has been instructed to identify job oriented courses and submit the report about the study centers in districts. He told that it is necessary for the students belonging to Minorities to offer appropriate coaching facilities for their development. There is a plan to organize coaching classes for various, competitive examinations in districts also as is being done in Hyderabad through Centre For Educational Development of Minorities, Osmania University at Nizam College.

Due to lack of coaching facilities for professional courses, Minority students are deprived of development. Mr. Mohammed Abdul Waheed, Commissioner, Department of Minorities Welfare and Managing Director, Minorities Welfare Corporation apprised him of the implementation of the schemes of the corporation. He also informed the Minister about the scam relating to scholarships cheques. He said that it took place on account of a nexus between the attender of the Corporation and an outsider. A fake account was opened in the bank and a sum of Rs. 1,18,000 was usurped. The complaint has been lodged with the police and it is investigating the case by taking into custody the culprits.

Mr. Ahmedullah said that the culprits will not be let off. He also instructed the officials of Finance Corporation to find out the names of the staff members of the Corporation with whose nexus this scam took place. He instructed them that instead of keeping amounts in various banks, it is appropriate that all the amounts are kept in one Nationalized Bank. Managing Director of Minorities Finance Corporation agreed to implement this proposal. The Minister expressed his anguish on the threatening calls to Mr. Mohammed Abdul Waheed.

He assured him to continue to offer his services. He also assured that he would talk to police officials in this regard. Prof. S.A. Shukoor, Director of Urdu Academy, CEO of Wakf Board, Mr. M.A. Hameed were present.
