Hyderabad, August 27: In view of the deteriorating flood situation in the state, the Disaster Management Commissioner on Thursday requested the National Disaster Management Authority to send two NDRF teams to the state as a precautionary measure.
Disaster Management Commissioner has written to the Director General National Disaster Response Force and National Disaster Management Authority Member KM Singh to send two teams as a precautionary measure as copious rains in catchment areas of Krishna and Tungabhadra rivers have led to fears of flooding.
The district Collectors of Kurnool and Mahabubnagar informed that NDRF battalions may be deployed to their districts as a pre-cautionary measure to utilising their services in case of worsening of the ensuing flood situation in respect of Krishna and Tungabhadra rivers.
The two battalions will be deputed to Kurnool and Mahabubnagar districts. These will comprise of 45 trained people and equipment for districts of the State. Each team will be equipped with four inflatable motor boats, nylon ropes of different sizes for rescue operations, manila ropes (big size for rescue operations), first-aid medicines and medical equipment, CSFR – collapsible structures for and other rescue equipment.
