Govt. seeks list of bureaucrats belonging to minority communities

The department of personnel and training (DoPT) has asked the ministries to furnish names of senior government officers on the basis of their caste and religion. The letter through which the list was sought stated that the two parliamentary committees are reflecting upon the issue of representation of SCs STs and OBCs at higher positions in the central government. The information is also sought for various parliament questions. All the ministries have been asked to furnish the detail of the top civil servants in the country in Group A and those in higher administrative grade, by July 31.

Sources reveal that as per the latest list from the DoPT there are a handful number of officers belonging to minority community. Out of the 95 officers serving as secretaries to the government of India just about eight officers are from the minority community.
