Hyderabad, April 1: Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has assured to call a review meeting to assess the works undertaken for Minorities welfare in the State.
Speaking to a delegation of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind Andhra Pradesh led by its president and MLC Moulana Hafiz Peer Shabbir Ahmed on Thursday, Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy assured them that a meeting will be called soon to review all the measures initiated for the Minorities Welfare in the state.
Moulana Hafiz Peer Shabbir Ahmed after meeting the Chief Minster told media persons that the delegation constituted all the presidents of the district units of the Jamiat Ulamna-i-Hind Andhra Pradesh.
The meeting lasted for 15 meeting and the Chief Minister gave a patient hearing to the delegation.
A memorandum, consisting of six demands, was also submitted to the Chief Minister, which brought his attention to the important issues facing the Muslim community in the State and requested Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy to continue the welfare schemes announced by the earlier governments.
Moulana Hafiz Peer Shabbir Ahmed asked the Chief Minister to appoint constitutional experts in the case of Muslim Reservations pending in the Supreme Court and the hearing is likely to restart in the month of April this year.
He further said that the Jamiat Ulama is also engaged in the legal battle right from 2005 when the reservations were first challenged in the AP High court.
The delegation also urged the Chief Minister to announce a compact package for the upliftment of the Muslim community who has supported the Congress party wholeheartedly in the general elections. The Jamiat demanded these packages should be announced in the areas where Muslim population is 10 per cent or more.
The packages may include introduction of Self Employment Schemes, establishment of Educational, Technical Education Institutions, Medical and Health Care facilities, like Aanganwadis, High Schools and Junior colleges in Urdu Medium, ITIs, Polytechnics, Computer Training Institutions, PHC apart from Self Help Groups etc.
Special emphasis should be paid on the girls’ education, the delegation urged.
Emphasis was paid on the restoration of status of the world famous Dairatul Mua’arif in Osmania University which was established by the late Nizam of Hyderabad to enrich the literature.
The Government should, therefore, take immediate action in this regard by sanctioning more funds to it, regularizing the staff of the institution and by filling all the vacant posts in the institution.
The control of institution should be taken over by the State Government to safeguard the heritage which is almost one and a half decade old.
The delegation demanded more funds for the minority organization in the state and appointment on vacant boards and committees to improve their functioning. Appropriate representations to the Muslims of the state in various Central Organisations should also be ensured and the Area Development Funds of the Public Representatives should also be spent on the minority dominated areas.
Minister for Minorities Welfare Mohammed Ahmedullah and former Minister Mohammed Ali Shabbir were also present.
