Govt releases Rs 20 cr for drinking water needs

Hyderabad, April 18: The State Government has released Rs 20 crore to address the acute drinking water scarcity in the municipalities.

It has isued an order in this regard on the report being presented by Public Health department Engineer-in-Chief.

The ENC informed that municipalities like Kamareddy, Armoor, Dharmavaram, Kadiri, Rayachoti, Badvel, Chittoor, Madanapally, Vizianagaram, Siricilla, Ramagundam, Mancherial, Kothagudem, Yellandu and Palwancha have been identified as problematic and water supply position in 19 municipalities– Nizamabad, Bodhan, Medak, Vinukonda, Chilakluripeta, Jaggaiahpeta, Venkatagiri, Kandukur, Punganoor, Bheemunipatnam, Anakapple, Ichapuram, Palasa Kasibugga, Jangaon, Bellampally, Khammam, Jagitial, Korutla and Metpally have been identified as likely to be problematic as the summer advances.

The Engineer-in-Chief informed that action plan and contingency plans were prepared to mitigate the drinking water problems in various Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) upto June.
