Tribal Welfare Minister A Chandulal today pulled up officials for not distributing clothes to the hostel students on time and increase in rate of drop outs.
Speaking at a high-level review meeting with officials at Secretariat here, Chandulal asked the officials concerned to take effective steps for prevention of dropout rate and send proposals for better amenities in the hostels. He also announced that the State government was planning to construct hostels for post metric tribal students studying higher education.
The minister directed the officials to distribute clothes to 1.22 lakh students in one month. He also asked them to set up invertors in the 100 hostels to ensure uninterrupted power supply. He also said hostels for working men and women will be constructed in district headquarters and towns located in the ITDA projects to accommodate 500 persons each. “The officials should offer training to the students for foreign studies as the State government will extend financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh to the students”, he said. The minister also directed the officials to take immediate steps to distribute textbooks and other material to the students on the first day of academic year and number of seats in best schools will be increased next academic year.
