New Delhi: A counsellor posted in the women empowerment department of the Madhya Pradesh government was held on Monday for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 7,000 from a complainant, Lokayuta police said.
Following a complaint, sleuths of the Lokayukta police laid a trap and nabbed Ravindra Singh Chouhan taking a bribe of Rs 7,000 from a woman, Lokayukta Deputy Superintendent of Police SS Udavat said.
He had demanded bribe for making improvement certificate for her niece, who is confined in Women Remand Home at Jaora town in the district, the officer said.
Chouhan had demanded Rs 50,000 and taken Rs 30,000 from the complainant, he added.
A case under Prevention of Corruption Act was registered in this regard and investigations are underway, police said.
