Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy today announced that his government would name 45 BC residential schools after social reformer Mahatama Jyotiba Phule. Addressing at a programme organized under Backward Classes department at Ravindra Bharati to mark 186th Jayanthi of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, the Chief Minister lauded the services of Jyotiba Phule for the uplift of under-privileged sections of the society.
As mark of respect to Jyotiba Phule, he said that the government would name 45 BC residential schools after Jyotiba Phule and increase their budget from Rs 50 crore to Rs 75 crores. Reiterating that transparency would be maintained in implementation of welfare programmes meant for SC,ST and BCs, Mr Reddy said the government was giving top priority for BC welfare and allotted Rs 3,017 crore of funds in the State budget besides allotting Rs 209 crores for BC Welfare Corporation and seven federations this year compared to Rs 9.5 crore last year. There was no paucity of funds for the welfare schemes, he said and appealed to officials and ministers to take government welfare schemes to the doorsteps of people. UNI
