Panaji, October 02: Goa Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said the government is contemplating to make the screening of donated blood mandatory through nucleic acid test in the state. This step, he said, will go a long way to clear the doubt about the safety of such blood and ensure its use to save lives of those who are in need of blood.
Mr Rane, speaking after felicitating the blood donors on the occasion of National Voluntary Blood Donation day, which was observed in the state yesterday, said this exercise will be initially experimented through GMC and subsequently will be taken up in other areas. The Health Minister stressed the need for involvement of more people in blood donation drive. He also flagged off blood donation awareness van on the occasion.
