Uninhabited Qutub Shahi Masjid at Shaikhpet is surrounded by concrete jungle. Roads leading to the masjid are closed from the three sides. A private school spread over nearly 2000 sqyds land is located on one side of the masjid. The school being run by Harijan Seva Sangh remained shut for 3 years.
A board has been set up under the limits of the school stating that the land belongs to Govt. of Telangana. The watchman of the school told that he has been living here for the past 35 years. The Masjid had open land but locals started constructing houses around the masjid. Land survey needs to be done to verify government’s claim and ascertain Waqf land present in the area.
