Govt laying maximum priority to vocational training

New Delhi, April 29: The government is laying “maximum importance” to vocational training with an aim to create a world-class skilled labour force, Labour and Employment Minister Mallikarjun Kharge said today.

He also said while a number of amendments have recently been carried out in the central labour laws in the recent past, bills to amend some other laws have been introduced in Parliament.

“While amendments were effected in Acts such as the Payment of Wages Act, Payment of Bonus Act, Apprentices Act, Workmen’s Compensation Act, Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972 and the Industrial Disputes Act etc, bills to amend the Mines Act, and Labour Laws (Exemption from Furnishing Returns and Maintaining Registers by Certain Establishments) Act, 1988 have been introduced in Rajya Sabha,” he said in his message on the upcoming occasion of Labour Day (May 1).
