Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao in Assembly pointed out that the number of ration cards exceeds the population in the district.
So, the Telangana government is all set to extract ration cards iwhich are not eligible in the state.
Hundreds of crores of public money is being siphon off every year to provide subsidy to ineligible card holders. State bifurcation has come as a stroke of luck in disguise to the Telangana government who is in the process of changing ration cards from the existing Andhra Pradesh to Telangana.
“We are going to provide new ration cards across the state as we have to change the name. We have also decided to provide a high security smart card to all eligible families which will eliminate all ineligible cards and its holders will lose the benefits,” Irrigation minister T. Harish Rao told the correspondent on Saturday.
